This goes out to all the cis people who, it’s quite obvious, want to help and befriend trans people, but who keep alienating and angering us instead. I’ve seen the befuddled looks on your faces when this happens, and I thought I’d try to clear a few things up for you. Let’s look…
Cooking, washing dishes, cleaning in general have always been chores I’ve avoided when I’m at home. While I was washing the dishes today, I found my self getting so incredibly angry, like not just merely frustrated or a little upset, I was fucking pissed off. Washing dishes is one chore my mother and father will never make my brother do, along with cooking. He is a boy, and therefore he should not have to cook or clean while he’s at home with my mom, grandma, and/or me. Earlier this afternoon, my brother made some ramen, and my mom told me to wash his dishes for him. She proceeded to tell me that she told him should do the dishes or get me to do them for him. While I am at home, I have to wash my brother’s dishes. During dinner, I was criticized for not cooking. I’m pretty sure all my brother can make is ramen. I’m certain I’ve only ever seen him wash 1 bowl ever, so it’s not like he can’t wash the dishes. My mom will never make him wash the dishes. Fuck this. Fuck this. Fuck this. Fuck this.
Fuck you Michelle Backmann.
"Now Amy Winehouse is dead, like many others whose unnecessary deaths have been retrospectively romanticised, at 27 years old. Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It is not preventable today. We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease. Not all addicts have Amy’s incredible talent. Or Kurt’s or Jimi’s or Janis’s, some people just get the affliction. All we can do is adapt the way we view this condition, not as a crime or a romantic affectation but as a disease that will kill. We need to review the way society treats addicts, not as criminals but as sick people in need of care. We need to look at the way our government funds rehabilitation. It is cheaper to rehabilitate an addict than to send them to prison, so criminalisation doesn’t even make economic sense. Not all of us know someone with the incredible talent that Amy had but we all know drunks and junkies and they all need help and the help is out there. All they have to do is pick up the phone and make the call. Or not. Either way, there will be a phone call."

OH MY GOSH! BEST HARRY POTTER SHIRTS EVER!
WANT!
Please take a few minutes and do it TODAY and encourage other LGBTQ people in Alabama, South & North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia to do it TODAY as well…we need you to take this opportunity to fill us in on what is most important to you, your community, your families, and your state. There are so FEW opportunities that LGBTQ folks of color, rural people, immigrants, people with disabilities, and working class and poor folks get to speak for OURSELVES, so let’s get this opportunity out to as many people as we can!
If you’re LGBTQetc. and live in these states, fill out this survey! I love SONG; they do great work, and I’m glad they’re asking for direction from all sorts of people.
Song is a really great organization, and I’m so glad they’re asking such thoughtful questions.
